20 Years Alphagate

Anniversary Celebration

We celebrated the anniversary on Friday, March 15, 2019, in the Vinomnasaal Rankweil with 83 guests, who arrived from Germany, Switzerland, and from different parts of Austria. After the managing director Ulf Oberbichler has welcomed the guests,  Prof. (FH) DI Dr. Robert Merz spoke about Digital Factory.

Since Sept. 2017 Dr. Robert Merz, is Professor of Robotics and Digitization at FH Vorarlberg and Founder and Head of Digital Factory.
Together with his team, he works on projects in the fields of Cloud Manufacturing, Data Analysis and Intelligence, Digital Twins, IT Security, and Collaborative Robotics.

As a next step we presented our interactive business areas:

It was a combination of several topics which we considered important for the future. We presented our way of working and thinking. An important topic was good cooperation. This can only work if we know and meet the needs of our customers. It is about trust, knowledge of the processes and good communication.

Technology – innovation in focus

Mixed Reality: We demonstrated possibilities like, how mixed and augmented reality can be used effectively, in a production environment.

A-VIS goes APP: In many use cases, the use of smartphones and smartwatches in the production environment makes sense. We showed how machine data and user profiles can communicate with each other, by logging on to an NFC terminal of the production machine.

UX/UI Design – user in focus

The focus is on the human being. Only when the operator can operate a machine stress-free and quickly, the operating system has fulfilled its task. The UX/UI Design must be perceived as natural and may or must be based on familiar habits. The design has to work internationally and interculturally. We focus on reduction. Only what is really necessary for each person is shown. At the event, we presented some new ways of communicating with machines, in order to show which direction we take.

Process – efficiency in focus

The processes in mechanical engineering are just as individual as the user. The requirements are always special. Together with the customer, Alphagate analyzes the process, in order to optimally align the UX/UI Design to this process. As new possibilities of operation arise, the actual processes are also adapted. We presented some very different projects at our celebration, from small (in the format – not complexity) to large. Process understanding and solution orientation are important here.

Keynote

We received a lot of positive feedback about our keynote speaker Prof. Dr. med. Merz. We’re really glad. His remarks on the topic of digitization and how disruptive technologies and ways of thinking can have a lasting impact on entire industries were amusing and informative at the same time. We should be open to this topic. A new way of thinking is required.

We live in exciting times!
